Principal’s Message

Welcome to The Pride~ It has been an absolute joy getting to know your child and watching all of our Lynch Lions settle into the school year. We believe deeply that students don’t care how much we know until they know how much we care—and every member of our staff is committed to showing that care every single day. We are excited to continue building meaningful relationships and creating engaging learning experiences that make school both fun and inspiring. Thank you for being our partners in ensuring that every child has the best learning experience possible this year.
October Attendance Challenge This month, Lynch will be holding an attendance competition! Each grade level’s classes will compete for the best daily attendance throughout October. The winning class will celebrate with a class party on November 7th. This challenge is meant to encourage consistent attendance, one of the best predictors of student success. When students are present each day, they feel a stronger sense of belonging and make greater academic progress. Thank you for supporting your child in being at school on time every day—we couldn’t do it without you!
Annual Monster Dash – October 31st Our biggest fundraiser and one of our favorite traditions is right around the corner! The Monster Dash will be held on Thursday, October 31st. The Lynch Lion Pride (Lynch PTO) is seeking corporate sponsors for the event. Supporters of the Monster Dash will have their logo featured on the sweatshirts, and will be recognized multiple times throughout the event. More details will be sent home soon, but here are the basics:
3rd, 4th, and 5th Grade: 10:00–11:00 a.m
Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd Grade: 12:45–1:45 p.m.
Students will have fun running laps while competing for recognition in categories such as most laps, scariest costume, and best costume. But let’s be honest—everyone wins on Monster Dash day! Families are encouraged to join us to cheer on (or even run with!) our students and celebrate this special event together.
Student Kindness Focus At Lynch, we are working hard to foster kindness, empathy, and respect among our students. Naturally, children will sometimes disagree or speak unkindly to one another, and we see these moments as opportunities for growth. Students will continue to learn the difference between rude, mean, and bullying behaviors, along with strategies for responding to each. If you have any questions about how we are supporting students in this area, please reach out to your child’s teacher.
Fall Conferences – November 17–21 Fall conferences will be held the week of November 17–21. Lynch will be using ParentSquare for families to schedule their child’s conference. This information will be communicated by your child’s teacher no later than October 24th. This feature in ParentSquare also allows families to schedule reminders, or make adjustments as the need arises. Conferences are a valuable opportunity to celebrate progress and set goals for your child as a team.
Thank You! Finally, a huge thank you to everyone who joined us for Back to School Night on September 18th. Your presence and commitment made the event a great success, and it was wonderful to connect with so many families. We look forward to continuing to host events throughout the year that strengthen our school-home partnership in support of every student.
With gratitude and pride,

Mrs. Secor is currently out on maternity leave and will return later in the year. We wish her all the best and are so glad she has this time to spend with her family. In the meantime, we are fortunate to have Suzanne Moore with us. Here is a little bit about her. Please feel free to reach out to her with any questions or concerns.

Vision Screening
-School wide vision screenings took place on 9/23/25 at Lynch Elementary. If your student’s screening recommends a follow up with an eye doctor, a referral will be sent home with your student in the weeks following the screening. Call the school nurse if you have any questions or need assistance in finding an eye doctor and/or obtaining a more extensive eye exam and glasses if needed.
Immunization Reminder
-All students are required to have an updated immunization record on file.
-Please give all updated immunization information to the Lynch office.
Thank you,

| Meet our new Nutrition Educator |
|

My name is Paige Welsh, and I’m excited to join Lynch as your new Nutrition Educator! I come with a background in Montessori education, I’m a National Board Certified Health and Wellness Coach, and I’ve worked in both nonprofit and health clinic settings throughout Central Oregon.
I know many of you got to know Kat, your amazing FoodCorps provider over the past few years. While I’m not with FoodCorps, I’m here to continue the great work she started by bringing fun, hands-on nutrition and wellness education to Lynch. This year, I’ll be running the Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program (FFVP), supporting the Garden Club, and leading/supporting classroom activities that promote food literacy, health, sustainability, and lifelong wellness.
This work helps set RSD apart because it shows we care not just about academic success, but about the long-term health and well-being of our students and community.
Why Nutrition & Wellness Education Matters Right Now
Starting early with healthy habits makes a big impact. When students learn about food, wellness, and smart choices in school, it:
Supports healthy growth and development
Improves focus, energy, and academic performance
Encourages lifelong habits that boost resilience and well-being
Helps prevent chronic conditions like obesity and diabetes
Creates positive connections to food, culture, and community
Makes learning hands-on, creative, and fun
Counters misinformation kids often see online
Builds confidence to make informed choices
And with only about 12% of U.S. adults having strong health literacy skills, there’s no better time to start than now.
I’m truly looking forward to a great year, connecting with students, collaborating with staff, and supporting families along the way. Thank you for welcoming me into the Lynch community!

| News from the Lynch Library |
|
|
|
Hello MA Lynch Families,
I am so excited to be your new librarian this year and to share the joy of reading with your kiddos! I have so many fun things planned in the library, and I can’t wait to get started.
Book Checkouts
-
Kinder–2nd grade: Students will check out books but keep them at school.
-
3rd–5th grade: Students may bring their books home.
Starting next week, you may receive an email reminder about overdue books. Please don’t stress if you get one—just remind your child to return their book the next time they have library. I don’t charge late fees. If a book is lost or damaged, there will likely be a fee to replace it, but please let me know right away so we can figure out the best solution together—I understand that things happen!
Last year, we had over 100 books that did not come back at the end of the year. If you happen to know where one is, please send it in so I can get it back on the shelves for students to enjoy.
Oregon Battle of the Books (OBOB)
I’m thrilled to offer OBOB again this year! Last year, our team won districts and nearly made it to the Final Four for state—this year, I believe we can go even further.
Students in 3rd–5th grade will be bringing home information soon, if they haven’t already, about how to join, including dates and times for meetings. You can also find the official list of this year’s OBOB books here: OBOB 25/26 Reading List
Stay Connected
If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to me at jaima.zollinger@redmondschools.org
Thank you for supporting our library and encouraging a love of reading at home!

| Meet our FAN Advocate |
|

Welcome Families: I often get asked “What can FAN help with?” and the answer is, whatever a family may be in need of! If I don’t have resources I can provide directly, I will do my best to connect a family with a resource within our community that can help them with the issue at hand. Some of the things we assist with most often are housing, utilities, clothing, school supplies, food, and health/insurance needs. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if your family could use some extra assistance! I can be reached via email at Jordan.chandler@redmondschools.org or by call/text at 541-699-8849.
