Principal’s Message

Welcome to The Pride~

We are delighted to welcome you to November, a special time for meaningful connections through our upcoming conferences. This is your opportunity to engage in a personal conversation focused entirely on your child’s growth and achievements so far this year. Together, we will discuss progress in reading, writing, math, social-emotional learning, kindness, attendance, and other important areas that contribute to your child’s success. Your partnership is invaluable to us, and we are committed to strengthening our relationship with every family. Our goal at Lynch is to meet with 100% of our students and families—because when we work together, amazing things happen!

During your visit, please take a moment to explore the book fair in the library, where there is something for every reader. This year, each teacher has thoughtfully created a classroom ‘wish list’ of books—families are warmly invited to support our classrooms by purchasing a book from these lists. Also, don’t forget to stop by the lost and found in the lobby to see if any items belong to your child.

Reading is a cornerstone of our learning focus this year at Lynch. We are dedicated to providing explicit, grade-level reading instruction to ensure every student builds the skills they need for future success. Strong reading abilities open doors not only in literacy but also in math, history, science, and health. We want your child to thrive and feel confident as they engage with all subjects. At conferences, our team will share detailed information about your child’s reading progress, along with practical strategies you can use at home to support their growth. We’re here to guide you every step of the way!

We are also wrapping up our exciting October attendance competition! Each grade level has been competing enthusiastically, and the winning classes will be celebrated with a special afternoon event on Friday, November 1. Attendance truly matters—our goal is for every student to attend school at least 95% of the time (about 19 out of 20 instructional days each month). Consistent attendance helps students avoid learning gaps and allows teachers to provide timely support. Starting the year with the mindset that “Every Day Matters” creates a positive learning environment and helps build strong relationships within the Lynch community.

Finally, a heartfelt thank you to all families who supported our Monster Dash fundraiser! Your generosity makes a real difference. The funds raised go directly to enriching our students’ experiences—purchasing new PE and playground equipment, funding memorable field trips, bringing artists and performers to campus, supporting after-school clubs, and much more. Your contributions help us create a vibrant and joyful school environment where every child can flourish.

We are excited to connect with you at conferences and appreciate your continued support. Together, we are building a strong, caring community where every student can shine!

With gratitude and pride,

Chris Wyland

Meet our new Nutrition Educator

Paige Welsh-New Nutrition Educator

My name is Paige Welsh, and I’m excited to join Lynch as your new Nutrition Educator! I come with a background in Montessori education, I’m a National Board Certified Health and Wellness Coach, and I’ve worked in both nonprofit and health clinic settings throughout Central Oregon.

This year, our students have been actively exploring fresh fruits and vegetables in the school garden, lunchroom, classrooms and hallways. Each week, students have the opportunity to try nutrient-dense produce, expanding their understanding of healthy eating habits! They’ve tried locally grown carrots, sweet mini peppers, tart mandarins, and cotton candy grapes through our Fresh Fruits and Vegetable Program, affectionately known as Tasty Tuesdays.

In the school garden, students have harvested potatoes, onions, beans, tomatoes, carrots, sunflower seeds and herbs. Through those activities, they have learned about the life cycle of plants, engaged their senses in the garden, and practiced mindfulness as they dive into their outdoor classroom.

If you would like to hear more about our work in the garden, the Fresh Fruits and Vegetable Program, or if you're interested in supporting garden and nutrition education at our school, please email our Nutrition Educator, Paige, at paige.welsh@redmondschools.org

Meet our FAN Advocate

The Family Access Network logo features the letters FAN in a black box with a blue accent.

Welcome  Families:
I often get asked “What can FAN help with?” and the answer is, whatever a family may be in need of! If I don’t have resources I can provide directly, I will do my best to connect a family with a resource within our community that can help them with the issue at hand. Some of the things we assist with most often are housing, utilities, clothing, school supplies, food, and health/insurance needs. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if your family could use some extra assistance!

With the possibility that SNAP benefits will not be renewed in November, I have included some food resources that families can access to supplement:

Central Oregon Fill Your Pantry (may have benefits for SNAP users, check website as it gets closer to the event on Nov. 8th at the fairgrounds)

Potential food resources via FAN - I may have additional resources that I can offer as it gets closer to November, please reach out to me if you are in need of additional resources.

As always, I can be reached via email at jordan.chandler@redmondschools.org or by call/text at 541-699-8849
