Obsidian needs your vote

Posted Date: 11/06/25 (08:48 AM)

Mr. Grubb, a science teacher at Obsidian Middle School, needs our help. He is one of nine finalists for a classroom makeover grant through Selco Community Credit Union. The school has a chance to win $15,000 worth of tools to transform their former wood shop, the current unused weight room, back into a CTE elective.

Right now they are running a pilot elective class, and Mr. Grubb and the class are working on trying to upcycle what they can for workstations and are using Mr. Grubb's own personal tools from home. Each of the projects they are working on has a community connection, such as their first project of building flicker houses for Think Wild in Bend. We only have until Friday to get our votes in at www.selco.org/vote. You can only vote using a personal phone, tablet or computer (school chromebooks will not work). They are not going to send you anything or ask for your email, and it only takes a few seconds to vote.

Please vote and spread the word with friends and family in Oregon so they can win this amazing opportunity for Obsidian!
