Principal’s Message

Welcome to The Pride~

I would like to start by saying Thank You to everyone that attended conferences before Thanksgiving Break.  This is a great time to check in with the teacher and find out how your child is doing here at Lynch.  We hope you were able to have a meaningful conversation with your teacher and get any questions answered during that time.  We appreciate your continued partnership in your child’s education.  The Holiday Sing Along will be Friday, December 19th. It was amazing to see the entire gym filled last year for both performances. Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd grade will be performing from 1:30-2:00. The doors will open to families at 1:15. 3rd, 4th, and 5th Grade will be performing from 2:30-3:00. The doors will open for families at 2:15. Students will be performing on the south side of the gym (next to the rock wall). After each performance is done, we will have students ready to be checked out with all of their things in their classroom. Your child’s teacher will be helping with the checkout.

December will be a critical time for school events and learning at Lynch. We are lucky to have three full weeks of school days without interruption. Please make sure that you get your child to school each day. Missing even one school day in December would be 93% attendance, which barely falls out of the range we are aspiring to as a school community. This will be a key time for completing learning prior to Christmas Break, and this time of year is filled with such joy in schools. Your child will benefit greatly from having 15 straight days of attendance as we wrap up 2025 strongly. We are very grateful for your partnership and the chance to work with your child at M.A. Lynch Elementary.

We look forward to starting school on January 5th after break. The first two weeks of January is a critical time where students are able to demonstrate their progress and learning halfway through the year. This allows the whole Lynch team to reflect on strengths and challenges from this learning information, and then make adjustments in response to this information. Our staff is constantly monitoring and gathering information about your students learning and social emotional learning. It is also a great chance to collect information about Math and Reading progress, and then make larger shifts in support as needed. We look forward to celebrating your child and ensuring that students are learning ELA, Math, and SEL standards to prepare them for their future.

Thank you for your generous support of the 2025 Monster Dash! Our school was able to raise over $24,000, which will be instrumental to enhancing student experiences.  Please know this is a fundraiser that benefits students directly. This money allows for new PE and playground equipment to be purchased, enjoy field trips, artist in residence, after school clubs, and other supports coming to Lynch.

With gratitude and pride,

Chris Wyland

Meet our new Nutrition Educator

Paige Welsh-New Nutrition Educator

My name is Paige, I’m the Nutrition Educator for M.A. Lynch Elementary and Tumalo Community School. I come from a Montessori background, am a National Board Certified Health and Wellness Coach, and have worked in nonprofit and health clinic settings across Central Oregon.

This month our students enjoyed new fruits and vegetables through our Fresh Fruits and Veggies program, “Tasty Tuesday.” Watermelon, pomegranate, blood oranges, snap peas, snow peas, and blueberries were offered to every student. These tastings help students explore foods, build self‑awareness, increase appreciation using all five senses, and form healthy habits.

Some classes also participated in a mindful apple taste test with Opal, Cosmic Crisp, and Green Dragon apples. Students used all five senses to compare the apples and wrote notes about their observations.

In the garden we harvested seeds and beans and have now prepared the beds for winter with compost and leaves. Planning is underway to build a couple hoop houses next year to extend our growing season.

If you’d like to hear more about the garden, the Fresh Fruits and Veggies program, or ways to support garden and nutrition education at our school, please reach out. Thank you for your interest and support.

Meet our FAN Advocate

The Family Access Network logo features the letters FAN in a black box with a blue accent.

Welcome  Families:
I often get asked “What can FAN help with?” and the answer is, whatever a family may be in need of! If I don’t have resources I can provide directly, I will do my best to connect a family with a resource within our community that can help them with the issue at hand. Some of the things we assist with most often are housing, utilities, clothing, school supplies, food, and health/insurance needs. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if your family could use some extra assistance!
If you are seeking energy/power assistance, Neighbor Impact will be opening their energy assistance program for one day on Monday, Dec. 15th. Applications will be available on their website on that day and will shut down once the allocated slots have been used. It is first come, first serve. Processing may take awhile and assistance is not guaranteed. This is a great opportunity for those who may be currently behind on their electric or gas bills. Please let me know if you have any further questions!
I have included some food resources that families can access to supplement:

Potential food resources via FAN - I may have additional resources that I can offer.  Please reach out to me if you are in need of additional resources.

As always, I can be reached via email at jordan.chandler@redmondschools.org or by call/text at 541-699-8849
