Principal’s Message
Welcome to The Pride~
Dear Lynch Families —
What an exciting start to 2026! We’re energized to begin a year of growth, learning, and connection across our Lynch community. Thank you for your partnership—together we’ll make this year outstanding for every scholar.
January Attendance Challenge Attendance matters! Historically, January sees a dip in student attendance that can linger into the rest of the year. To keep momentum strong after the holidays, Lynch will host a spirited attendance competition throughout January. Weekly grade-level and campus-wide challenges will celebrate classes with the best attendance, and we’ll add surprise “Mystery Days” to spotlight classrooms or grades that shine on a given day.
Why this matters: consistent attendance supports academic progress, builds positive relationships with peers, and strengthens routines that help students thrive. Please make every effort to have your child at school by 8:45 AM and remain until dismissal at 3:25 PM. That consistency is one of the most powerful ways families can support success.
Winter Expectation Expedition — Wednesday, January 7: On January 7 students will participate in a Winter Expectation Expedition: a campus walking tour where we explicitly re-teach and model expectations in shared spaces. Staff will review what ROARS (Respect, Ownership, Attitude, Responsibility, Safety) looks and sounds like to be respectful and safe in the:
This event ensures clear, consistent expectations and helps every student feel confident and prepared to flourish at Lynch.
School Board Appreciation — January is School Board Appreciation Month. We are grateful to the volunteers on the Redmond School District board for their dedication to our students. A special thank-you to Liz Goodrich for “adopting” Lynch this year—she’ll be joining us on campus and at school events throughout the 2025-2026 school year.
Thank you for your continued support and commitment. Here’s to a joyful, purposeful, and successful 2026 at Lynch!
With gratitude and pride,

| Meet our new Nutrition Educator |
|

My name is Paige, I’m the Nutrition Educator for M.A. Lynch Elementary and Tumalo Community School. I come from a Montessori background, am a National Board Certified Health and Wellness Coach, and have worked in nonprofit and health clinic settings across Central Oregon.
In December, students participated in the Fresh Fruits and Vegetables Program (FFVP) through our weekly Tasty Tuesday tastings. Students sampled pineapple, mandarin oranges, strawberries, and blackberries, supporting nutrition education that encourages food exploration, self-awareness, and positive relationships with food. Using all five senses during tastings helps students build confidence, appreciation, and lifelong healthy habits. These fruits also provide important nutrients, including vitamin C and fiber, which support overall health and learning readiness.
Families play an important role in supporting healthy eating habits at home. The Kids Healthy Eating Plate, developed by the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, offers simple, research-based guidance for balanced meals. You can reinforce these ideas by:
Filling half the plate with fruits and vegetables and encouraging variety and color
Choosing whole grains when possible and pairing them with healthy proteins
Offering water or milk instead of sugary drinks
Offering new foods alongside familiar favorites and encouraging curiosity without pressure
Inviting children to help with food preparation, such as washing fruits and vegetables or choosing produce at the store
Using positive, neutral language about food and focusing on how foods help our bodies grow, think, and stay energized
These small, consistent practices help children build confidence and develop lifelong healthy relationships with food.
For additional resources on building nutrition knowledge, please visit the Harvard Kids Healthy Eating Plate
If you would like more information about the school garden, the Fresh Fruits and Vegetables Program, or ways to support nutrition and garden education at our school, please feel free to reach out.
Thank you for your continued interest in and support of student wellness and happy new year!

| Meet our FAN Advocate |
|

Welcome Families: I often get asked “What can FAN help with?” and the answer is, whatever a family may be in need of! If I don’t have resources I can provide directly, I will do my best to connect a family with a resource within our community that can help them with the issue at hand. Some of the things we assist with most often are housing, utilities, clothing, school supplies, food, and health/insurance needs. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if your family could use some extra assistance! If you are seeking energy/power assistance, Neighbor Impact will be opening their energy assistance program for one day on Monday, Dec. 15th. Applications will be available on their website on that day and will shut down once the allocated slots have been used. It is first come, first serve. Processing may take awhile and assistance is not guaranteed. This is a great opportunity for those who may be currently behind on their electric or gas bills. Please let me know if you have any further questions! I have included some food resources that families can access to supplement:
Potential food resources via FAN - I may have additional resources that I can offer. Please reach out to me if you are in need of additional resources.

Currently, we are learning all about exercise. If you know anyone looking for preschool, encourage them to check out Neighborimpact.org and fill out an application for Head Start.
