Principal’s Message
Welcome to The Pride~
Dear Lynch Families,As we approach the end of another extraordinary school year, I want to express my heartfelt gratitude for your partnership. It has been an honor to work alongside such a dedicated community of students, families, and staff. Together, Lynch is a special school—a place where every child can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
We have worked hard to create, share, and reinforce the behavior expectations for students and staff. The acronym ROARS represents five behaviors that each Lynch student works on demonstrating each day. ROARS stands for: Respect, Ownership, Attitude, Responsibility, Safety. This verbiage will continue to be reinforced with students next school year, and is obviously connected to the Lion mascot and having a clear expectation for all students.
Our staff has worked really hard to develop and have clarity around why we exist as a school, and aspire to become a school community.
Mission: M.A. Lynch is committed to high levels of learning for all students.
Vision: We are a collaborative community focused on academic excellence and personal achievement, where all students are prepared to lead and serve as responsible citizens.
Celebrating Student Learning
I'm thrilled to share some outstanding achievements from our spring assessments. Our iReady and Oregon State Assessment data reveal impressive growth across the board. We've seen a 12% improvement in K–5 math performance on iReady and a 2% increase in K–5 ELA performance. Our commitment to the Science of Reading in our primary grades is particularly noteworthy: 92% of Kindergarteners are at grade level on the iReady reading test, 87% of 1st graders are at grade level on the iReady reading test in reading, and 75% of 2nd graders are at or above grade level on the iReady reading test. This success is a direct result of the strong partnership between our classrooms and your homes, and we're incredibly proud of the progress our students have made.
Upcoming Events
Field Day – Tuesday, June 9th
We're excited to celebrate the end of the year with our annual Field Day! Our 3rd–5th grade students will participate from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM, while our K–2nd grade students will enjoy Field Day from 12:30 PM to 2:30 PM. We're looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help make this an unforgettable experience for our students. If you're interested in volunteering, please contact the main office. All volunteers must have an approved background check on file.
Last Day of School – Thursday, June 11th
School will dismiss at 12:25 PM on our final day. Please note that all end-of-day routines, including pick-up and transportation, will run three hours earlier than the regular schedule. Report cards will be available through ParentVUE, and if you'd prefer a paper copy, please contact the front office. Paper copies of progress notes for students in special education, ELD, and Title programs will be mailed home.
Looking Ahead to 2026–2027
The first day of school is Tuesday, September 8th. In August, we'll share comprehensive back-to-school information via ParentSquare, including your child's classroom teacher, welcome letter, supply list, handbooks, and other important updates. Please ensure your ParentSquare account is active and your contact information is current so you don't miss any of these important communications. Kindergarten Registration is now open. If you have not registered your incoming Kindergarten student, please do so now so you do not miss out on any information we will be sending out in August. Kindergarten will have 3 “camp” days starting September 8th and then start in full on September 14th. More information to come.
As we head into summer, I want to thank you for the joy and energy your children bring to Lynch each day. We can't wait to welcome them back in September!
Respectfully,
Chris Wyland Principal, M.A. Lynch Elementar

| Meet our new Nutrition Educator |
|

My name is Paige, I’m the Nutrition Educator for M.A. Lynch Elementary and Tumalo Community School. I come from a Montessori background, am a National Board Certified Health and Wellness Coach, and have worked in nonprofit and health clinic settings across Central Oregon.
This May, students participated in the Fresh Fruits and Vegetables Program (FFVP) through our weekly Tasty Tuesday tastings. Each student had the opportunity to explore a variety of fresh produce, including apricots, strawberries, ruby kiwifruit, Cosmic Crisp apples, Opal apples, D’Anjou pears, sweet peppers, and kumquats. These tastings continue to support nutrition education by encouraging curiosity, self-awareness, and positive relationships with food. By engaging all five senses, students build confidence, expand their willingness to try new foods, and develop an appreciation for fresh, healthy choices that can last a lifetime.
In addition to FFVP, students have continued spending time in our community garden during lunch, with their classes, and through our after-school garden club. In the garden, they’ve been planting kale, lettuce, spinach, carrots, corn, squash, beans, bok choy, kohlrabi, herbs, and flowers while learning about plant growth, teamwork, and caring for our shared space.
If you’d like to learn more about our school garden, the Fresh Fruits and Vegetables Program, or ways to support nutrition and garden education at our school, please feel free to reach out. We’d love to connect with you!

NeighborImpact Lynch Head Start (ages 3-5) has had an incredible year of learning and growing together, and we love looking back on all the memories we made in our classroom. We are wrapping up our investigation of water, celebrating everything our little ones explored, discovered, and accomplished this year. It has been such a joy to watch them flourish, and we are so proud of each and every one of them. If you know anyone looking for preschool, encourage them to check out Neighborimpact.org and fill out an application for Head Start.

As many of you are aware, our community experienced a heartbreaking tragedy last weekend with the loss of sweet Ember Cuen.
With the blessing and approval of the Cuen family and Vern Patrick Elementary, schools throughout our community are coming together next Friday to honor Ember and support her family.
We are encouraging students, staff, and families to participate next Friday by wearing red and orange, Ember’s favorite colors, so that her flame can continue to burn brightly throughout our community.
Thank you for helping us surround the Cuen family with love and support during this unimaginable time.
We can’t wait to watch Ember’s flame continue to burn next Friday.
