Principal’s Message

Welcome to The Pride~

Dear Lynch Families,

It has been an absolute joy getting to know your child and watching all of our Lynch Lions settle into the school year. We believe deeply that students don’t care how much we know until they know how much we care—and every member of our staff is committed to showing that care every single day. We are excited to continue building meaningful relationships and creating engaging learning experiences that make school both fun and inspiring. Thank you for being our partners in ensuring that every child has the best learning experience possible this year.

October Attendance Challenge
This month, Lynch will be holding an attendance competition! Each grade level’s classes will compete for the best daily attendance throughout October. The winning class will celebrate with a class party on November 7th. This challenge is meant to encourage consistent attendance, one of the best predictors of student success. When students are present each day, they feel a stronger sense of belonging and make greater academic progress. Thank you for supporting your child in being at school on time every day—we couldn’t do it without you!

Annual Monster Dash – October 30th
Our biggest fundraiser and one of our favorite traditions is right around the corner! The Monster Dash will be held on Friday, October 30th. The Lynch Lion Pride (Lynch PTO) is seeking corporate sponsors for the event. Supporters of the Monster Dash will have their logo featured on the shirts, and will be recognized multiple times throughout the event. More details will be sent home soon, but here are the basics:

  • 3rd, 4th, and 5th Grade: 10:00–11:00 a.m

  • Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd Grade: 12:45–1:45 p.m.

Students will have fun running laps while competing for recognition in categories such as most laps, scariest costume, and best costume. But let’s be honest—everyone wins on Monster Dash day! Families are encouraged to join us to cheer on (or even run with!) our students and celebrate this special event together.

Student Kindness Focus
At Lynch, we are working hard to foster kindness, empathy, and respect among our students. Naturally, children will sometimes disagree or speak unkindly to one another, and we see these moments as opportunities for growth. Students will continue to learn the difference between rude, mean, and bullying behaviors, along with strategies for responding to each. If you have any questions about how we are supporting students in this area, please reach out to your child’s teacher.

Fall Conferences – November 2-6th
Fall conferences will be held the week of November 2-6th. Lynch will be using ParentSquare for families to schedule their child’s conference. This information will be communicated by your child’s teacher no later than October 9th. This feature in ParentSquare also allows families to schedule reminders, or make adjustments as the need arises. Conferences are a valuable opportunity to celebrate progress and set goals for your child as a team.  Be sure to also stop by the Book Fair happening during conferences.

Thank You!
Finally, a huge thank you to everyone who joined us for Back to School Night on September 17th. Your presence and commitment made the event a great success, and it was wonderful to connect with so many families. We look forward to continuing to host events throughout the year that strengthen our school-home partnership in support of every student.

Respectfully,

Chris Wyland

Meet our new Nutrition Educator

Paige Welsh-New Nutrition Educator

Welcome back Lynch families!

I’m Paige, your Nutrition Educator, and I’m excited to be back for another school year! For our new families, I’m happy to introduce myself.

I have a background in Montessori education, am a National Board Certified Health and Wellness Coach, and have worked in nonprofit and health clinic settings throughout Central Oregon. At Lynch, I focus on making food, health, and wellness hands-on, engaging, and approachable for our students.

This year, I’ll continue supporting the Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program (FFVP), garden activities, and classroom experiences that help students build food literacy and develop healthy, lifelong relationships with food.

Celebrating FFVP!

Last year, students had regular opportunities to taste and explore a variety of fruits and vegetables. We saw that trying new foods is a process. Some students were excited to taste something new, while others needed more time and exposure. Both are part of learning!

We’re excited to continue FFVP this year and provide students with more opportunities to discover new foods in a fun, positive, and low-pressure environment.

Why Keep Trying New Foods?

Children often need multiple opportunities to become comfortable with a new food. School is a wonderful place to build that comfort, and families can continue the experience at home.

Try:

  • Offering a new food alongside something your child already enjoys

  • Letting your child help wash, prepare, or serve it

  • Talking about its color, smell, texture, or taste

  • Offering it again another time without pressure to eat it

Exploring counts! Looking at, touching, smelling, or taking a small taste of a new food are all steps toward becoming more comfortable with it.

Together, school and home can help children become curious, confident, and adventurous eaters while building skills that support their health for years to come.

I’m looking forward to another year of learning, tasting, growing, and exploring with our Lynch students. Thank you for being part of this work!

News from the Lynch Library

A graphic with the text 'cool kids READ BOOKS!' inside an orange border, set against a background of books.

Hello, Lynch Lion Families!

I am so happy to have your students back in the library! During the first few weeks of school, we learned and reviewed our library rules and expectations. Now, you may start seeing your students bringing library books home. District wide policies regarding books are below:

K–2nd Grade: Students may check out one book to keep in their classroom.
3rd–5th Grade: Students may check out two books to take home.

Students may have books for two weeks before they need to be returned. You might  receive an overdue notice from time to time. Please know that I do not charge late fees, even if you see a dollar amount on an overdue email—these notices are simply friendly reminders to help us keep our books circulating.

If a library book is lost or damaged, please reach out to me right away. I am always happy to work with families to find a solution.

I am so excited to have your students in the library this year and am looking forward to a fun year filled with reading, learning, and lots of great books!

Happy Reading!
