Principal’s Message
Welcome to The Pride~
Dear Lynch Families,We look forward to meeting with you at parent-teacher conferences after school on November 2nd-4th in the evening, and all day on November 5th. These conversations are a valuable opportunity to celebrate your child’s growth and work together on their learning. There will be no school for students on Thursday, November 5 and Friday, November 6 for conferences. We know that school safety is a topic on everyone’s minds right now. For more information from the Redmond School District, please read the message on School Safety and Security. If you have a question during conferences, your child’s teacher will refer to this information. Please connect with the main office if you have any questions or concerns about school safety and security.
Another topic that we have received questions on is how to talk with your child following the recent tragedy in Bend, so we wanted to offer the following resources to support difficult conversations at home. You can find these resources attached here. If you have additional questions or need for support, please contact the main office. As a reminder, we have a full time school counselor available at Lynch, who can also refer your child to behavioral health should the need arise.
As a reminder, the book fair is also available during conference week, Monday through Thursday and is located in our school library. We know students look forward to this event and we are excited to see them explore new stories and authors again this year.
Thank you for your generous support of our Monster Dash fundraiser. We are grateful to the families and community members whose donations and encouragement made it possible. Together, we raised $25,000 to date, which will help fund student activities, field trips, artist in residence, assemblies, and student materials. The link and QR code for the fundraiser ends on Sunday, November 8th. Your generosity makes a meaningful difference for our students.
Respectfully, Chris Wyland Principal, M.A. Lynch Elementary

Lynch Annual Vision Screening Day
![C:\Users\kim.kirk\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\GN5X7E91\MC900413618[1].wmf](https://posts.parentsquare.com/inline_images_e843c6302f9e1c43_1790700610092-1790700610092.png) All elementary and middle-school students receive free vision screening courtesy of our local Lions Club! Lynch’s’s screening day is scheduled
on November 13, 2026
On the day of screening please have your student bring their glasses if prescribed. If your student’s screening recommends a follow up with an eye
doctor, a referral will be sent home with your student in the weeks following the screening. Call the school nurse if you have any questions or need assistance in finding an eye doctor and/or obtaining a more extensive eye exam and glasses if needed.
*Our school district requires complete or up-to-date immunization records. Please take your child to a pharmacy, clinic or to your family doctor to get updated on the immunizations if needed or complete the non-medical immunization exemption online. Oregon Health Authority : Nonmedical Vaccine Exemptions
*Bring your completed non-medical exemption form or your child’s updated immunization record to school after they have received the required immunizations to prevent your child from being excluded from school and all school related activities/programs on February 24, 2027, Exclusion Day.
Bi-Annual Lice Information
Each school year we receive questions regarding pediculosis/head lice in the Redmond School District. Lice are mainly spread through head-to-head contact and most easily passed amongst siblings and in close friend groups, keeping long hair pulled back is a great preventative measure. It is also a good idea to talk to your child about not sharing hats, coats, sweatshirts, brushes, combs, etc.
The signs and symptoms of head lice include persistent itching of the head and back of the neck, infected scratches or a rash on the scalp, and most importantly nits- tiny tear-drop shaped whitish eggs which are firmly attached to an individual hair shaft.
Please check your child’s head regularly during the school year as a case of head lice caught early is much easier to treat! If you discover lice, notify the school office right away and let your student know to keep their coats, hats, hair ties, combs / brushes, etc. to themselves.
The RSD nurses in each building pay attention to individual lice cases. We work with families to educate and offer financial assistance as needed through FAN (Family Access Network). There have been a few cases where students have had lice and been treated at home without informing the school. If we are not aware of the cases we are unable to address the schoolwide impact.
If your student presents with signs of lice while at school a confidential screening by designated trained staff will be performed. Children with live lice or nits do not need to leave school early, but should be treated before returning to school. The parent/guardian will be informed by the school nurse or the school office. Before your student returns to school please use a lice treatment product and clean the home or homes. Once your child is treated and all live lice have been removed, you are asked to bring your child to the office on the day they return to the school building to be screened by a designated trained staff member before returning to the classroom.
Redmond School District follows the suggested school measures for head lice provided in Communicable Disease Guidance for Schools issued by the Oregon Department of Education and Oregon Health Authority.
The following information will be helpful regarding lice facts, care and treatment.

| Meet our new Nutrition Educator |
|

Welcome back Lynch families!
I’m Paige, your Nutrition Educator, and I’m excited to be back for another school year! For our new families, I’m happy to introduce myself.
I have a background in Montessori education, am a National Board Certified Health and Wellness Coach, and have worked in nonprofit and health clinic settings throughout Central Oregon. At Lynch, I focus on making food, health, and wellness hands-on, engaging, and approachable for our students.
This year, I’ll continue supporting the Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program (FFVP), garden activities, and classroom experiences that help students build food literacy and develop healthy, lifelong relationships with food.
October was a wonderful month of food exploration, hands-on learning, and celebrating Oregon agriculture at Lynch Elementary!
Celebrating Oregon Farm to School Month
Last month, we celebrated Oregon Farm to School Month by participating in Oregon Crunch at Once, a statewide celebration encouraging students to take a bite of locally grown food together. This fun event helps students connect with Oregon agriculture while building appreciation for the farmers who grow the food we eat. We ate kindercrisp apples from Tamiyasu Orchards, which is located in Hood River.
Field Trips to Seed to Table Farm
Our first-grade and second-grade students took field trips to Seed to Table Farm in Sisters for hands-on learning experiences tailored to each grade level. Students harvested food, planted cover crops, explored familiar and unfamiliar vegetables, and learned about the environmental conditions plants need to grow.
These experiences help bring classroom learning to life. By connecting with the farm, students develop a deeper understanding of where food comes from, how it grows, and how healthy soil and the environment support our food system. Hands-on experiences also give children opportunities to explore new foods, build curiosity, and develop positive relationships with fruits and vegetables.
Fresh Fruits and Vegetables Taste Tests
Throughout October, students participated in weekly Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program taste tests, exploring a variety of fresh produce, including Oregon tomatoes, Oregon strawberries, Asian pears, daikon radish, blood oranges, and snap peas.
Offering a variety of fruits and vegetables gives students opportunities to experience new flavors, textures, colors, and smells in a positive, low-pressure environment. Repeated exposure to new foods can help children become more comfortable trying unfamiliar options over time. These small experiences help build confidence, encourage curiosity, and lay the foundation for healthy eating habits that can last a lifetime.
Thank you for supporting our efforts to help students grow, explore, and learn through food! I look forward to continuing to connect our students with fresh foods, local agriculture, and meaningful garden-based learning experiences.
